Dangdut 噹嘟樂
「噹嘟」，取名來自演出時擊鼓所發出的兩種鼓的音色：「Dang」與「Dut」。它最初只是一種節奏，後來逐漸發展成一種印尼特有的音樂類型。噹嘟是種混合體的展現：馬來詩歌傳統、印度音樂節奏、可蘭經（阿拉伯語）的誦經技巧、歐美樂隊編制、與拉丁舞蹈韻律，多元成就了它的意義。 往往擺在主流音樂的對立面，噹嘟屬於鄰里、菜市場、工地，屬於街頭。其主題包羅萬象，諸如情愛關係（如婚外情、離婚、失戀）、道德禁忌（如酒醉、毒品、賭博、性工作）、社會現實（如貧窮、貪汙）等。直白甚至低俗的歌詞與其貼近日常生活經驗的情境、以及引人「Goyang」（搖擺）的節奏，正是與苦難為伍的底層人民願意買單，尋求暫時解脫的止痛藥或百憂解。

Dangdut: Indonesian Hybrid Popular Music
The presentation introduces dangdut, a genre of Indonesian popular music, and highlights its hybrid characteristics. As part of urban popular culture, the development of dangdut shows how agents of urban culture absorbs and appropriates various music traditions and blend them within modern music. The popularity of dangdut in Indonesia is an example of what had been said by Jeff Todd Titon, ethnmomusicologist, that "society is partly musically constructed."
